Is Overwatch the Next Big Esport? Dolby thinks so.

SANTA ANA, Calif – Esports Arena, North America’s first dedicated Esports facility, announced the launch of Agents Rising, an Overwatch gaming tournament streaming live on Twitch May 28-29 in partnership with Dolby.

“Overwatch, a multiplayer first-person shooter game launching May 24, is the latest game to feature Dolby Atmos and the first to support Dolby Atmos headphone rendering. With Dolby Atmos, Overwatch lets competitors “play by sound” – a significant advantage when players can hear enemies approaching from every direction.”

At $10,000, Agents Rising will set the stakes high with the largest grand prize of any Overwatch tournament. Agents Rising also represents many firsts for Overwatch – it’s the first Esports tournament backed by Dolby and licensed by Blizzard, the first Overwatch tournament occurring post-launch, and the first to implement a new and unique ruleset.
